Meet Jessica Traver Ingram

Jessica Traver is the Co-Founder & CEO of IntuiTap Medical, where for the past 5 years she has been successfully leading her team to develop a device that helps physicians more accurately and efficiently perform spinal punctures for epidurals, drug delivery, pain management, and diagnostic purposes. Her innovative work at IntuiTap Medical landed her a spot on the esteemed Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Prior to founding IntuiTap Medical, Jessica conducted research at Purdue University centered around understanding why healthcare startups fail at significant rates and identifying the key strategies and actions necessary to be successful in healthcare innovation. She went on to help design and launch the acclaimed TMC Biodesign Innovation Fellowship, out of which many health-tech companies have successfully been created.

Jessica blends expertise and passion in product development and business strategy with a strong technical background in mechanical engineering. While at Purdue University, she also led a variety of research projects ranging from sports injury and concussion prevention to customizable prosthetic and exoskeleton design. In addition to her research, Jessica has worked as an R&D engineer for an ophthalmic medical device company in the Bay Area, where she optimized the design of a new surgical device for user ease and comfort, and maximized the functionality of the device.

What we do

Our device, VerTouch, integrates mapping of the spine with needle guidance to help physicians get where they need to go on the first try.

IntuiTap eliminates the guesswork, frustrations, and pain from spinal punctures. VerTouch uses tactile imaging to allow visualization of a patient's lumbar anatomy in form of a 2D color map on an integrated display. Difficult and challenging anatomies are imaged with minimal effort.

Our device projects onto the screen exactly where the needle can be placed with respect to the anatomical landmarks. This allows the physician to visualize precisely where they should place the needle for optimal success. VerTouch has one of the shortest learning curves of any imaging device on the market. In our IRB-approved study on more than 100 parturients, all users were able to correctly interpret the image within 3 minutes of first-time use.

What people are saying

"Being that Houston is our home base, we've seen lots of great companies in the medical industry but none had really caught our attention like IntuiTap Medical. We love the technology that Jessica is pioneering. It's going to make getting an epidural less painful for so many women."

— Carrie Colbert, Curate Capital

"I got stuck with the epidural needle eight times because they couldn't find the right spot for my epidural. Sign me up for this device right away!"

— An excited IG follower of Carrie's upon learning about IntuiTap Medical
